Behind The Smiles

It's been a good day at Cookie Paradise.
We took a bunch of orders today, the most we ever did in one day.
After delivering our last order of Vietnamese multi-layer tapioca cake to a customer at Nail World, we headed to Five Guys so the kids could have some fries.
We even had time to go to my favorite spot to watch the sunset. It was a gorgeous day.
Maia and I played a make-believe game where she was princess Raya and I her father, running away and fighting the Drunes, evil spirits who thrived on human discord and turned people to stones. I was turned into stones a few times but resurrected each time by my daughter.
Marcus stayed in his mother's arm and wailed the whole time, amid the open field and beautiful sunset. "Happiness is a state of mind," I supposed.
Behind the success, however, is stress. My wife was so stressed about the day's work that she woke up at 6 a.m. and puked.
I had been up since 4 a.m. I felt fine, though something internally has been telling me to get up at 4 a.m. the past two nights.
I guess, sometimes, we all need to look deeper than the smiles on a Facebook post.
