An Unexpected Gift For Mother's Day
Share
Last Saturday, my wife got a really pretty pot of flower from Erica Holloway. It was the 3rd time that the Holloways visited our cookie stand.
I know our kids have hung out and we have chatted, but flowers on Mother's Day? Completely unexpected.
"I almost cried," said my wife, who's normally a robot when it comes to emotions. (Just kidding, she is an emotional woman.) "I had a mental breakdown that weekend... felt exhausted after baking the cookies... doing house chores... I was feeling quite lonely. So, when Erica came with the flowers..."
Thank you, Erica, for making my wife feel less lonely. Thank you for doing my job! Honestly, you made me feel a little insecure about my role as my wife's husband.
"When a person does something kind to you," my wife added, "it's not because you have been kind to that person, but it's because that person is kind." She said you reminded her of that saying.
P.S. The "Holloway" flower pot will have a spot on our cookie stand. As bright as it is, you won't miss it.
